Gameplay loop

Premise

Online co-op detective horror for up to 3 players (single-player supported). Run a gas station night shift and determine which customers are doppelgangers. Miss one and it returns later in the shift to attack.

Shift loop

Each randomly generated shift mixes stocking shelves, taking deliveries, cleaning, and meeting a sales quota while interrogating customers: examine IDs, cross-check details on the computer, observe behavior.

Entity hunts

If a creature escapes, board up, set traps, and hide. A mistaken kill means doppelgangers return as monsters.

Co-op

Online co-op for up to 3 players with proximity chat; single-player supported.

Money matters

Personal funds (not store cash) drive the ending branch: earn via sales commissions, odd jobs, prize-wheel prizes, and the $20 newspaper bounty. Skipping the vet bill twice kills the pet and resets the game.

All 3 endings

Two levers decide everything: the Clyde call after Shift 12, and your personal funds at the end of Shift 13.

True Ending

Keep both your Pet and Clyde alive. Refuse to call Clyde after Shift 12 and finish Shift 13 with at least $250 in personal funds to pay the pet surgery. You fight the Dentist, then Clyde finishes him. Strictest requirements — the recommended first target.

Grave Decision

Pet lives, Clyde dies. If you can't cover the $250 surgery, call Clyde so he pays — he is then killed by the Dentist after leaving the shop.

Empty Home

Clyde lives, pet dies. Skip the Clyde call and end Shift 13 with under $250 in personal funds.

Guides

Beginner Guide: The Cop-and-Ghost Shift Loop

The loop

Every shift has two jobs: run the gas station (stock shelves, take deliveries, clean, hit the sales quota) and screen customers for doppelgangers. Check IDs, cross-check details on the computer, and watch behavior. Miss a doppelganger and it returns later in the shift to attack.

  • If a creature escapes, board up, set traps, and hide
  • A mistaken kill means doppelgangers return as monsters
  • Story Mode is 13 randomly generated shifts; Endless Mode beta unlocks after completing Story Mode
  • Up to 3 players online co-op with proximity chat; playable solo
  • Never shoot the real Clyde — he can appear as a doppelganger; verify identity via the computer first

Endings Guide: True Ending, Grave Decision, Empty Home

The two levers

Two decisions decide the ending: whether you call Sheriff Clyde after Shift 12, and whether your personal funds (not store cash) reach $250 for the pet surgery by the end of Shift 13. TheGamer notes the real total is closer to $330 including earlier pet bills.

  • True Ending: skip the Clyde call + $250+ personal funds — both pet and Clyde survive
  • Grave Decision: call Clyde for surgery money — pet survives, Clyde is killed by the Dentist
  • Empty Home: skip the call with under $250 — Clyde survives, the pet dies
  • One save = one ending; back up your save before the Shift 12 call or play three runs

Banking $250 fast

Personal money comes from sales commissions, odd jobs, and side bounties. Community consensus targets roughly $310 total personal spend including earlier vet bills.

  • Dumping live rats pays more than corpses
  • Rats in the trash: $3 each; timed rat/cockroach challenges: $20 each
  • Prize-wheel spin tokens can yield $10 prizes
  • Newspaper wanted-man bounty: $20

Achievement Roadmap: All 10 in ~3 Runs

Roadmap

Exactly 10 achievements and three are tied to the endings, so full completion takes about three runs. Community roadmaps recommend going for the True Ending first since it has the strictest requirements.

  • Relentless (hunt cleared in 30s) — easiest early game when entity hunts are simple
  • Silenced (Shrieking Doll, shift 2+), Freed (Demented, shift 6+, door traps count), Last Performance (let the jack-in-the-box song finish, then kill the Marionette, shift 9+)
  • First Blood and Still Breathing are natural progression
  • Locked And Loaded (buy every gun and melee weapon) pairs with money-saving on a funds-light run
  • Back up your save before the Shift 12 call to get all three endings from one long save chain
